A LETTER FROM THE EXECUTIVE BOARD

Welcome new and returning CDE parents! We hope everyone is having a great summer! The teachers and executive board members are excited for a successful and fun year ahead.

The CDE 2011-2012 school year begins on Tuesday, September 6th for the 3AM class and the multi-age PM class and Wednesday, September 7th for the 4’s classes. The 3AM class will have a 1 ½ hr orientation on their first day, beginning at 9:00 and the multi-age pm class will also have a 1 ½ hr orientation on their first day, beginning at 12:30. Parents are invited to stay for their child’s orientation.

Due to mandatory state regulations, your child must come to school each day with a backpack that contains two full changes of clothing (i.e., two pairs of socks, two shirts, two pants, two pairs of underwear). These backpacks must be brought home each day. Again, this is required by state mandate concerning emergency evacuation procedures.

Also this year we are starting a new snack procedure. Parents are required to supply a nutritious snack and beverage for their child for each scheduled class the child attends. An ice pack must accompany any food or beverage that requires refrigeration. The child’s name needs to be on their snack bag and put in cubbies each day upon arrival, and brought home at the end of the class.

Please make sure you have your child’s medical form completed. Also, September’s tuition will be due. You may drop it off at our first parent meeting or the first day of school.

The first parent meeting will be held at CDE on Tuesday, August 30th, at 7:00 PM. This is an important meeting when parents get the opportunity to talk with the teachers, look at the classroom and find out about the CDE School experience. We encourage one parent from each family to attend. Please be advised that the classroom will not be available to children during this meeting. We will be distributing and reviewing the school’s by-laws, budget and school calendar. Fundraising and parent responsibilities, including committee assignments, will also be discussed.
