Committee Descriptions for the 2011-2012 school year

CDE is a Cooperative Nursery School that depends on the support and active involvement of participating parents. Please take a moment to read through the descriptions below, and indicate your top three choices on the form in your family’s registration packet. Every effort will be made to assign your family one of your top three choices, however, committee jobs will be filled on a first come, first served basis. Families who do not return their forms with their registration packet will not have input about their committee job assignment

FUNDRAISER - (mandatory) – FALL MUM SALE AND POINSETTIA - October

Need 1 - Mail-Phone Order/Delivery

Each Member-at-Large will hand out the order forms and collect them from their class. They will be responsible to tally up the orders and submit their class orders to the Member-at-Large who is chairing this fundraiser. The Member-at-large who is chairing this fundraiser will work closely with the Vice President to make sure all the orders are accurate and submitted to the vendor.

Each Member-at-Large will be post a sign up sheet at the sign in table for volunteers to assist with the sorting/delivery. The Poinsettias will be arriving closer to the holiday season so another sign up sheet for volunteers will need to be placed at the sign in table closer to the sorting/deliver date.
Sorting/Delivery parents MUST be available to sort orders before parents arrive for pick up. They will also help parents load orders into their cars and deliver any orders not picked up by the parents in their class. Delivery date will be provided well in advance.

Mail-Phone Order/Delivery parents will be responsible for receiving phone, e-mail, or mail orders; collecting payment; and delivery if needed.

Two Member-at-larges will Chair this committee and work closely with the Vice President. The two Member-at-larges will be responsible in assigning tasks and helping to achieve those tasks of the committee, be present and delegate on drop off day, and work the tag sale itself. The committee tasks is as follows: sending out an email to the CDE families one month prior, then 2 weeks prior, then 1 week prior then the night before drop off. Making posters to post around the tri-town area, publicity, making a sign up sheet for all the CDE families, pricing, working the tag sale (about 4 hrs) and help clean up the remaining items and have a company come to pick them up.

Toy Cleaning

Need 4 – One Family from each class.

The Toy Cleaning Committee will be responsible for taking home and cleaning the toys and classroom items upon the Teacher’s request – usually once a month.

Housekeeping

Housekeeping may include painting patches of the ceiling and walls in the classroom, installing safety gates or hooks, washing the floors, and cleaning the furniture at least 3 times a year (before the school year begins, in Dec/Jan, and then again at the end of the school year) if not more, and working with the Director to resolve any issues.

On a monthly basis the playground and the grounds need to be kept up for the safety of our children and families at CDE. For the playground, this will include weed-whacking, raking leaves, raking the sand box to level the surface, sweeping sand off the mats, adding sand to the sandbox, and any other issues that may arise.

For the grounds (entry way to the school) leaves will need to be raked up in the Fall months. In the Winter months, the steps may need to be shoveled/de-iced.

MEMBERS-AT-LARGE

Members-at-Large are parents who have a desire and are able to contribute more time and effort to supporting CDE than an average parent. Members-at-Large are responsible for assisting the Board as needed, chairing at least one mandatory fundraiser, assisting in all mandatory fundraisers, acting as a liaison between parents and the Board, calling parents with school closings. Members-at Large are strongly encouraged to attend monthly Board meetings and all parent meetings. Members-at-Large may be asked to fill openings on Committees or vacant spots on the Board that may arise during the school year.
SHOPPER – as needed

Need 1 One parent is needed to purchase supplies for the school as needed – such as paper towels, napkins, cups etc. CDE has a tax-exempt BJ’s membership, and as much as possible, supplies should be purchased there.
