Chester, Deep River, Essex Co-Operative Preschool (CDE) has proudly served students and their families in the tri-town and surrounding area since 1947. Our co-operative pre-school program encourages parent participation, building a strong school community where families and teachers are stakeholders.
As our communities have changed and grown over the past 60 years, CDE has responded to the shifting needs of children and families.
By keeping class sizes small our staff is able to observe and interact one-on-one with your child throughout the day. Our program offers opportunities for your child to build critical learning skills that will have a lasting impact.
Play is an essential part of early leaning. While your child engages in play he or she will be building cognitive and social pathways that are critical to academic achievement. Our center-based classroom is designed for optimal skill building based on the hands-on theories of Piaget and Best Practice as defined in State and National Standards.
Our mission is to provide children with a developmentally appropriate pre-school experience in a safe and nurturing environment.
Our goal is to foster the physical, cognitive and social and emotional growth of each child preparing them to become learners in the 21st century.
A Cooperative Experience
As a member of a parent cooperative, you have a direct voice in your child’s nursery school experience. Our qualified staff prepares the curriculum and may request parental assistance in further executing that program. For example, a parent who has a hobby that relates to a monthly theme may be asked to visit and interact with the children.
Parent volunteers make up the CDE executive board. Officers include President, Vice President, Treasurer, and Secretary. Members at large are elected as representatives from each class and are invited to attend the Executive Boards meetings.
